Choosing Web Colors

When a client wants a web site, the very first question I have is, "What sort of colors do you want for your website (predominant colors)?" I usually hope to get answers like, "Reds" or "Blues" or "Tans/Browns" or "Maroons". One way to decide what you might like is to go to my thumbnails page (link below) and scroll down the page of pictures to see if one color scheme jumps out at you (because I have a lot of different colors there). That will at least get a good start.

If clients have existing logos, it would stand to reason that they would want to use those colors, so that is important to know as well.

Or perhaps you have seen a color that you like on another website. If so, just let me know, send me the link, and I can go and sample that color.

Some people prefer to look at a pallet of colors and choose from that selection. For that reason, I have added this color chart, so you can find a color you like and can tell me the exact color (using a common language). Because, what is Forest Green to me, might not be Forest Green to you -- so this chart has names with the colors. If you don't see the color you like, perhaps you can tell me that you sort of like a certain color, but a little darker or lighter.

Web Color Chart

This chart shows different colors that you can use for websites. It shows the color as a background color (with black text) and as a font color (against black and white background). Finaly, there is the web color notation.
