This section will ultimately be a lot bigger, but let me start with the basics.
With each web site I design, I try to follow basic search engine optimization rules. First,
a lot of search engine optimization (SEO) relies on the content of the web page. I typically instruct
the owners of the web sites that I design that they have to write keyword rich content for their page.
Boer Goat Keywords
It basically works like this. If you are selling Boer Goats, your keywords are typically, "Boer
Goats", "Boer Goats for Sale", "Boer Goats for Sale in Tennessee" (or whatever state you are in), and
"Boer Goat Information". To optimize a site with those keywords, it is a must to use those
phrases as often as possible (although not to an extreme). One of the keys is to use the phrases where
they would naturally fit within a paragraph. Places to use the keywords (in order of importance):
Domain Name (www.BoerGoatsForSale.com would be ideal)
Page Name (BoerGoatsForSale.asp)
Folder Name (www.domain.com/BoerGoats/ForSale.asp)
Title Tag <title>Boer Goats For Sale</title>
Meta Tags (Description, Abstract, Keywords)
First Text Sentence of Body
Header Tags (<h1><h2>....<h6>)
Same Site Link Text (hyperlinked text Boer
Goats For Sale)
Outbound Site Link Text (hyperlinked text Boer
Goats For Sale)
Inbound Text Links (get another site to link as above)
Bolded Paragraph Text
Paragraph Text <p>We have Boer Goats For Sale in Tennessee</p>

These are the very basic steps of SEO. They are easy to follow (if you use it as a model). Essentially,
if you use this SEO formula, you can build a keyword rich site. For instance, in the case above, there
should be a page that focuses on each of the keywords. One page would discuss the merits of Boer Goats,
another about the market for Boer Goats For Sale in Tennessee, and another about the need for Boer
Goat Information.
For the most part, plural words do not matter (but I would rather not take the chance).
The one area I am still researching is the dash - underscore - one word issue. I still don't
know if BoerGoatsForSale.htm is better than Boer-Goats-For-Sale.htm or Boer_Goats_For_Sale.htm). You
can get around it by having a folder structure which has both (www.BoerGoatsForSale.com/Boer_Goats_For_Sale/Boer-Goats-For-Sale.htm).
